    OVERVIEW

Customs filing and compliance has significantly changed in recent years and governments around the world continue to roll out new electronic documentation and reporting requirements. In order to comply with these stringent requirements, companies must efficiently generate high quality customs documents, commercial and internal forms. It is now essential for organizations to use technology to properly comply with the ever changing regulatory requirements imposed by border agencies.

Espressocode’s Exdocs platform is internet based software which enables customers to create exceptionally high quality documents and share these documents with the necessary commercial and government parties. Exdocs manages complicated multi-organization user rights, shares data through a variety of technical protocols, and offers a rich variety of customizable functionality.

    Effective and efficient data gathering

Exdocs' customers use a web-based data entry screen to both share documents and complete data entry. Customers like customs brokers and freight forwarders can set up their own customers by defining generic items and HTS codes and locking certain data so that only internal staff can change them. Exdocs creates all required shipping and customs documents immediately for printing at the customer site or at the 3PL. Exdocs automatically transmits the shipment details to back end operations software, using a variety of technical protocols, ensuring that the customer has no duplicate data entry. Exdocs customers reduce their own data entry costs while at the same time improving their service levels in a mission critical environment.

Some examples of Exdocs features are:
    • Flawless generation of electronic documentation for customs submission.
    • Complete Data Exchange to various parties via multiple protocols.
    • Automatic shipment status notifications sent via email to all relevant trade chain partners (brokers, carriers, etc.).
    • Complete submission history for tracking and compliance auditing.
    • Screen elements to ensure accuracy, ease-of-use, and compliance.

Highway carriers must comply with electronic truck manifest rules

Companies importing into the US by highway, their customs brokers, freight forwarders and truck carriers must inform US Customs and Border Protection (CBP) about the details of their shipments in an electronic format prior to the arrival of the goods at border crossings.

All parties involved in cross-border trade must abide by advance notification rules as set out by Electronic Truck Manifest rules (ACE e-Manifest), including QP/WP which governs the movement of in-bond cargoes. However, it is the freight forwarder and trucker who are responsible for ensuring that accurate electronic manifest submissions are made to CBP in the prescribed time periods and formats.

Espressocode has created solid and reliable solutions for freight forwarding and trucking companies that enable them to meet these advanced highway e-manifest requirements.
